A community that grows together grows together

The New Urban Farmer's Projects

The New Urban Farmers is proud to present our home farm at Galego Court, a family housing development that offers programs to help individuals empower their lives. The Pawtucket Housing Authority provides a place where children and families can learn and grow, and now, the New Urban Farmers. Our home farm at Galego Court is the largest of our satellite farms, with a plot size at just about an acre. Here we will showcase a true intensive growing farm, utilizing every inch to grow fresh healthy food. Come Spring 2010 we'll have garden beds growing food, mushroom farms, and hoop houses everywhere. Please check out these photos of our farm.

The New Urban Farmers have begun it's community garden project on Jefferson Avenue in Pawtucket Rhode Island. Right now the garden is an empty lot where a house once stood (See Left). As of November 2009 - the garden will being to grow - A recycled Greenhouse, raised garden beds, and even a Vermicomposting center will all be added before the first signs of spring. Please check back often to see the progress unfold - we will have tons of pictures, do-it-yourselfs, and videos too - Which will bring you all the same excitement of building a community garden. Urban Aquaponics is a Project that the New Urban Farmers is teaming up with RISD and others to create. Together we want to build a aquaponics system in Pawtucket that will not only grow food year around - but also fish! Our Aquaponics Program is growing fast so please come back for more information shortly.

Growing Rooftops is another one of our other new projects. We are building everything from a produce growing greenhouse for Angelo's Restaurant to gardens on historic mill buildings. Here at the New Urban Farmers we believe you can grow anywhere - even small spaces can grow big! Please come back to see all the projects as they get growing.
